April 2008 - Recently, Heritage Ministries honored Edward Dynys as their April Wellness Worker of the Month.  Heritage Ministries established the Wellness Worker of the Month program to help promote healthy eating and exercise for employees at each of its three Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing facilities and Retirement Campus.

Ed has been employed for 16 years at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing as a cook. Ed was nominated for this honor because he lost over fifty pounds.  Ed’s doctor suggested it would be beneficial to his overall health if he reduced his weight.  As a result, Ed began exercising and keeping a watchful eye on his food intake.

“My biggest challenge has been resisting the urge to snack between meals, and that is not easy being a cook,” states Ed.  “I now pay attention to labels on food products and look for healthier ways to prepare meals.  None of this would have been possible without the support of my friends and exercise partners at the YMCA.  I look forward to continuing my weight loss and an improved healthy lifestyle.”

Heritage Ministries is committed to providing its employees with programs and benefits designed to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle.
