Bemus Point ElementaryJuly 2008 - Recently, students from Bemus Point Elementary School had the opportunity to visit with residents of the “Helping Hands” Program at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.  The “Helping Hands” Program gives participants an opportunity to help other residents at the facility by making welcoming baskets, reading, delivering mail, and many other activities.

Heritage Green also welcomes the opportunity to help others in the community.  The residents volunteered to assist the Bemus Point Elementary PTA with trimming Campbell’s Soup Labels as a community outreach of their “Helping Hands” Program.

“Labels for Education is a great way for our school to earn points that can be redeemed for free educational materials, art supplies, playground equipment and many classroom supplies,” states Michele Novotny, Coordinator, Bemus Point Labels for Education.   “Cutting the labels that our parents and teachers send into school is a very time consuming and tedious process. Thanks to Heritage Green’s ‘Helping Hands’ Program, we were able to receive a large portion of our labels already cut this year. We look forward to working with Heritage Green’s ‘Helping Hands’ Program in the future.”

The appreciation goes both ways.  “When we asked our residents if they would be interested and explained that Bemus Point Elementary could utilize the labels to buy supplies and equipment for their students, they were very enthusiastic about it,” explains Bridget Lowe, Heritage Green Activity Assistant.  “Our ‘Helping Hands’ Program gathered every day for a number of weeks and worked until all labels were cut.  The residents enjoyed and embraced this opportunity to help the students of Bemus Point Elementary.”
