Scott KrippayneAugust 2008 - Heritage Ministries will celebrate an old-fashioned Harvest Day on Saturday, September 6 at Heritage Village in Gerry, New York.  With a return to its roots, this 74th annual festival celebrates the heritage of this not-for-profit human service ministry organization.  The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and, as always, is a free, family-friendly event open to the public.

Tent Worship Service

Starting at 1:00 p.m., Heritage Ministries is excited to showcase the talents of contemporary Christian music artist Scott Krippayne on the Harvest Day stage.  Scott will perform and lead worship during the Tent Worship Service, and will later perform in concert at the Jefferson Middle School (Jamestown) at 7:00 p.m.  Scott Krippayne concert tickets are only $5 and are available at Christian Treasures (304 North Main Street, Jamestown) or any Heritage Ministries location.  Please call (716) 487-6800 for more information.

A talented singer and songwriter with five albums to his credit, Scott Krippayne has a piano-driven pop sound, for which he is best know. On his latest album, “Gentle Revolution,” co-produced with Kent Hooper, you can still hear the piano-driven pop sound, but the polished pop edge has been burned away, leaving behind a barrage of aggressive guitars fused with an authentic ‘live’ rock feel.  “The idea behind Gentle Revolution is change,” Scott states. “Any revolution means change, and we associate that idea with overthrow, and yet Jesus brought a gentle revolution into the lives of everyone he met. He touched them. He listened to their stories and gave them the truth.”

Heritage Ministries is also thrilled to welcome Randy Snavely, inspirational speaker from the Family Life Network , to Harvest Day.  Randy will share an inspirational message entitled, “Preparing for the Harvest,” the theme for Harvest Day 2008.  Randy is one of the 'original' radio staff members of the Family Life Network, having been part of the network since 1983. He serves as the 'sports guy' with the FLN morning team, as well as in announcing and public relations capacities.

Fun for All Ages

In keeping with Harvest Day tradition, children will once again be a focus of the day's activities.  This year, children will have the opportunity to enjoy an inflatable bounce house, Velcro obstacle course, and spend much of the day in the Children’s Tent complete with arts and crafts projects provided by Heritage House Childcare & Learning Center .

In addition, kids will enjoy Harvey Sanden (“The Balloon Man”) and much more. In advance of Harvest Day, area children (grades K-12) have been challenged to participate in a coloring contest with the theme “Preparing For The Harvest.”  Contest winners will be announced at Harvest Day and prizes awarded.

For the young at heart, Wind River, a talented bluegrass ensemble, will perform on stage at 11:00 a.m.  Families will enjoy a Chicken/Hot Dog Dinner ($6 Quarter Chicken/$3 Hot Dog), as well as an old-fashioned lemonade stand. There will also be a Pie Baking and Pie Eating Contest, with numerous prizes awarded.

Heritage Ministries looks forward to welcoming you and your family to Harvest Day 2008.  With great activities for all ages, everyone is sure to have a great time!  For more information, please call (716) 487-6800.
