The Sellew Society is named for our founder, Bishop Walter A. Sellew. Bishop Sellew saw the creation of The Heritage Group as a vision from God, and in 1886, established the Orphanage and Home of the Free Methodist Church in Gerry, New York. This orphanage provided loving care to the many children it served, but in 1966, the decision was made to concentrate the ministry more on older adults. Over the years, the ministry of The Heritage Group has grown to include an independent and assisted living campus, three reah & skilled nursing facilities, and now a childcare and learning center. All of these ministries would not have been possible without the support of our donors and friends. Becoming a member of the Sellew Society can be accomplished in several different ways. Some of the most common methods include:
Gifts made through a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust provide you with tax advantages and an income for life for yourself or someone you stipulate. By using the gift calculator, you can find out exactly the type of benefit you would receive. We invite you to join us in honoring the legacy of Bishop Walter A. Sellew. Bishop Sellew heard and listened to the Word of God. As a result, he dedicated his life to God's service. The Heritage Group has remained committed to the Word of Jesus Christ and the principles upon which the organization was originally established. Stewardship is of first priority to Christians, and The Heritage Group is dedicated to upholding strong Christian ideals. We hope you will consider The Heritage Group when developing your estate plans. For further information, please contact: Office of Development |

Charitable giving is an important aspect of many people's lives. For several years, The Heritage Group has been fortunate to receive gifts that help support our human service ministries. These gifts, particularly those made through one's estate plans, are an essential part of our continued ministry. As a result, The Heritage Group has chosen to honor these individuals through the Sellew Society.
