In addition to the services and amenities above, the Chautauqua County area offers inhabitants a wonderful and relaxing lifestyle. In the November 2002 issue of Golf Digest Magazine, Jamestown, New York (located just one mile from The Woodlands) was ranked number one out of 314 cities as the best area for a golfer to reside. The criteria used to come to this determination included the number of public courses per capita, the number of total courses per capita, the average green fees of the courses, the climate modifier, and the average star rating of Golf Digest readers.

Other than great golf, Jamestown is also the birthplace of actress and comedian Lucille Ball. Located in the heart of downtown Jamestown, the Lucy-Desi Museum houses some of the most unique artifacts from her exciting career. Each spring and summer, the downtown district hosts the "Lucille Ball Birthday Celebration," turning the area into a carnival complete with rides, games, and comedy shows.

Finally, Chautauqua County is fortunate enough to be located right along the banks of Chautauqua Lake. The lake area is home to some of the most favored tourist spots in the Northeast, including the world-famous cultural center, Chautauqua Institution. The Institution hosts several artists each summer, most of whom are leaders in their particular field of study.  Additionally, for nine weeks over the summer months, Chautauqua Institution hosts various lectures, concerts, and cultural opportunities.  It is a true gem on Chautauqua Lake.

We hope you will take the opportunity to learn more about The Woodlands soon. Please contact us at your convenience to arrange a visit and tour of our picturesque senior living community overlooking Chautauqua Lake and the surrounding countryside.
