| Heritage Green Appoints New Director of Nursing |
Heritage Ministries has promoted from within and named Sharon Walters RN as Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing (Greenhurst) Director of Nursing. Mrs. Walters has served in various nursing positions with the company for over 16 years. In her new role as Director of Nursing she will be in charge of directing and coordinating the nursing services and staff with the management of resident care at the facility. Mrs. Walters will be a participating member in the facility’s management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making. Additionally she will help develop and maintain the philosophy and objective of the facility nursing department, in compliance with the Department of Health and Heritage Ministries core values; Respect, Excellence, Acceptance, Compassion and Honesty- R.E.A.C.H.. Mrs. Walters stated she is looking forward to becoming part of the Heritage Green Team, “I want to be a part of a positive influence here at Heritage Green that will work towards resident centered care. (We need to) assure we are serving each of our residents to the best of our ability following through with our mission statement, to serve others through Christ-centered Ministries, promoting hope, dignity and purposeful living.” In working with her new team of co-workers, Mrs. Walters shared, “I have tried to express to every team that positive change involves everyone at every level to make it work.” Monica Choperena Administrator of Heritage Green commented, “We look forward to working with Sharon in her role as the Director of Nursing. She brings with her a great deal of experience, commitment and a positive attitude, all which will prove to be a vital asset to our management team.” Mrs. Walters has served the residents and family members of Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing (Jamestown) since 1995; starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) she worked towards her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and became a charge nurse. In 2004 Mrs. Walters graduated from Jamestown Community College Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse (RN). She spilt her time working at Heritage Park and WCA hospital as a RN until 2005 when she became a Unit Manager at Heritage Park. In 2011 Mrs. Walters was the co-recipient of the Heritage Ministries “Mary Lou Clark Customer Service Award”, recognizing her outstanding efforts in providing excellent customer service on a daily basis to both the residents and family members of Heritage Park. Mrs. Walters has lived in the Town of Ellington most of her life, where she currently resides with her husband Rick. Together they have 3 children, Laura, Rickey and Mitchell. She has been a lifelong member of the Ellington United Methodist Church. Mrs. Walters enjoys reading and spending time with her family, especially now that two of her children are grown. When asked to say something about herself, Mrs. Walters stated, “I am a people person, I can just sit in a room and talk to people, it doesn’t matter if I know them or not. I believe strangers are just friends we have not yet met.” |
