Heritage President and CEO Lisa Haglund announced the winners of the first #HeritageStrong Virtual Golf Classic this week. The event, which replaced the Heritage’s annual golf challenge, raised over $32,000 for seniors who call Heritage communities their home, nationwide.
“Heritage made the difficult decision to cancel our annual golf challenge this year out of an abundance of caution for both participants and staff. We have been blessed throughout the years by our participants and sponsors, as they have come alongside Heritage, a not-for-profit dedicated to serving seniors, and because of their generosity, helped us continue our mission — to promote Hope, Dignity, and Purposeful Living. While we were disappointed to have to postpone our in-person golf challenge to 2021, we were thankful for the opportunity to engage our golfers in this new, innovative event.”
Haglund explained the #HeritageStrong Virtual Golf Classic followed all of the same features as a traditional golf event, but allowed each participant to choose their own course, and golf at their own pace. The event drew golfers from across the United States who wanted to support the continued ministries of Heritage by raising funds to support over 2,500 seniors in their communities nationwide. These funds will help provide items such as valuable technology for residents to communicate with their loved ones, a variety of activities to provide lives full of enrichment, and exercise equipment to help residents stay strong and healthy.
“We cannot thank our communities, event sponsors, and supporters enough for all they have done to support Heritage as we have battled the COVID-19 pandemic. Their generous support and contributions to our golf event, and beyond, will continue to help as we care our most vulnerable population, our seniors.” she added.
