JOIN US THIS NOVEMBER!
Please join us for “Welcome Home Veterans: Mail Call”, as we welcome keynote speaker, Clay Brizendine who will share the power of the written letter and impart the value of writing letters to those who are presently serving in the armed forces to keep them connected to families, friends, and our communities. Composing a letter or note may take only moments, but can have an immeasurable effect on a soldier who is serving our country far from home. Many soldiers may not receive mail from home, so hearing their own name called at “Mail Call” can be just the spark of hope they need to bravely continue serving our country.
The program will also examine letters written by and to soldiers from the Civil War through present-day conflicts and portray the incredible support these letters provide to the giver and the receiver. Event guests will have their own opportunity to draft a letter or Christmas card after the program to send to active soldiers currently serving.
Light refreshments and tours of the historical Robert H. Jackson Center to follow.
