Recently, Judy stood before the graduating BOCES LPN Class of 2026—a class that included her own inspiring Heritage colleague, Eric Chapman—to deliver a powerful commencement address. Drawing from her own lived experience, she reminded the graduates of the grit, humor, and pure determination it takes to step into the nursing profession.
Her speech was more than just words of encouragement; it was a reflection of a career built step-by-step right here at Heritage.
A Timeline of Perseverance and Advancement
Judy’s career at Heritage is a masterclass in professional evolution, demonstrating how dedication and organizational support can turn a job into a lifelong calling:
- September 5, 2017 – The Journey Begins: Judy joined the Heritage family, starting on the demanding night shift as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She quickly proved her dedication, working as a floor nurse across various shifts to master her clinical skills.
- Fall 2022 – Stepping into Specialized Care: Recognizing her leadership potential and clinical expertise, Heritage transitioned Judy into specialized training. She took on the dual, vital responsibilities of Infection Preventionist and Nurse Facilitator.
- 2024–2025 – Chasing the Dream: Determined to advance her clinical reach, Judy began pursuing her Registered Nurse (RN) degree. To balance her rigorous studies, she transitioned to a per diem role in 2024. By September 2025, she returned to leadership as the Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse Unit Manager (GN/RN UM) for Parkside.
- January 2026 – Achieving the Milestone: Judy officially obtained her RN designation, solidifying her transition from a frontline night-shift LPN to a highly skilled nursing leader.

“Working for Heritage has allowed me to experience the joy of caring for those and seeing how each different resident has so much knowledge, great memories and stories. I count it as a privilege to get to take care of and get to know all the residents and their families.”
