President and CEO of Heritage Ministries Joins Call for Increased Medicaid Reimbursement

“Our seniors and those who care for them deserve better than a system that is constantly in survival mode”

Heritage Ministries President and CEO, Lisa Haglund, a long standing advocate for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates, is joining Leading Age New York in their call to Governor Hochul for a 20%  increase in the 2023-24 Executive Budget Proposal.  New York State has not updated Medicaid rates to reflect current operating costs in more than 15 years.

“Our seniors and those who care for them deserve better than a system that is constantly survival mode.  The global pandemic, a historic nationwide staffing shortage, and other external factors have taken a significant toll on Heritage Ministries and other not-for-profit providers across this state and nation.  As an operator with senior care communities in multiple states, we’ve seen first-hand the significant investments that are being made elsewhere.  This industry, and those it serves, can no longer afford for New York State to lag behind, said Haglund.”
