On any given sunny afternoon at Heritage Green, you can usually find Marilyn Hooper enjoying the fresh air and sharing warm conversations with staff and neighbors. But one special afternoon, Marilyn—along with her devoted son Greg and daughter-in-law Marlene—decided to turn an ordinary day into a celebration of the people who make Heritage Green feel like home.
Knowing just how hard the staff works around the clock, Greg and Marlene teamed up with Marilyn to bring an ice cream truck straight to the campus.
For the Hooper family, showing gratitude is simply second nature. Greg has always believed in spontaneous acts of kindness—whether it was the time he bought out the local bakery on a whim to deliver fresh donuts to the morning crew, or surprising the team on a warm afternoon with frozen treats.
As the music played and the ice cream truck pulled up, employees from nursing, housekeeping, activities, and dining stepped outside to take a well-deserved break, pick out their favorite flavors, and share a few laughs in the courtyard.
