Heritage Honors Veterans

Heritage Ministries will present “Welcome Home Veterans: Mail Call”, in collaboration with the Robert H. Jackson Center and the PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer to Peer Program on Saturday, November 16 at 10am.

Keynote speaker, Clay Brizendine, author of “Shoebox Letters: Daughters to Dads,” personal development coach, trainer, and speaker, will share the power of the written letter and impart the value of writing letters to those who are presently serving in the armed forces to keep them connected to families, friends and their communities. Composing a letter or note may take only moments, but can have an immeasurable effect on a soldier who is serving our country far from home. Many soldiers may not receive mail from home, so hearing their own name called at “Mail Call” can be just the spark of hope they need to bravely continue serving our country.

The program will also examine letters written by and to soldiers from the Civil War through present-day conflicts and portray the incredible support these letters provide to the giver and the receiver. Event guests will have their own opportunity to draft a letter or Christmas card after the program to send to soldiers currently serving.

Melissa Trusler, Heritage director of Development, stated, “Across our communities, we serve veterans daily. This special program gives us a reason to come together in celebration and understanding of what they sacrificed for all of us to live in freedom.”

Held at the Robert H Jackson Center, 305 E 4th St, Jamestown, NY, the event is free to the public to attend, but reservations are appreciated. To RSVP and learn more, click here or call (716) 338-9755. Light refreshments and tours of the historical Robert H. Jackson Center will follow the program.
